Henry Hayden Cathcart 1845 Mr. Henry Hayden Pioneer’s youngest son is the subject of the following article in “Centennial History of NSW 1888” In which Bombala was part of a sheep station when Charles’s Father came to the area. Charles Hayden, Hayden Park, was born in Cathcart in 1848. He is the youngest son of Mr. Henry Hayden, the original occupier of Hayden Park, who came to Bombala when the site of the present township was part of the Maharatta sheep station, and he was one of the very first settlers in the Delegate district. Our subject was educated principally by private tutors, and on the completion of his education, he devoted his time to pastoral pursuits, assisting his father in the management of the station. This comprises 3500 acres two thirds of which are freehold, and is situated on the Victorian border, part of it having been taken up by the present proprietor in the sister colony. At present Mr. Hayden depastures 2000 sheep, together with a number of cattle and horses. His wool clip last year amounted to 6400 lbs, which was disposed of in the Sydney markets. He is a member of the Bendoe School Board and returning officer for the same district.
