Hi Ian,
Just a couple more corrections . This time concerning my grandmother.
She is listed as Adelaide Nita Maude Rutherford. On her birth certificate she is Adelaide Nita Warburton and on her death certificate she is Adelaide Netta, with no mention of Maude.
I know growing up I was always told she was Adelaide Netta Maude but when I purchased her birth certificate there was no Maude and the Netta had turned to Nita.
Also with her the death date is out by 2 days. Her DOD is 24th October 1974 not the 22nd.
Thanks for you time
Cheers, Wendy

HANSCOMBE-BUCKLEY.
Despite torrential rain there was a large attendance in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Bega, on Wednesday morning to witness the marriage of Mr. James Augustine Hanscombe, late A.I.F., son of the late Mr and Mrs William Hanscombe, of Numbugga, to Miss Gladys Mary Buckley, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Cornelius Buckley, of the Family Hotel, Bega, and formerly of Nimmitabel. The handsome young bride, who entered the church on the arm of her father to the strains of the Wedding March, wore an exquisite frock of silver lace over georgette, with silver beads and Malines lace, with a court train of ivory georgette and silver lace, and an embossed tulle veil. Her sister, Miss Doris Buckley, was bridesmaid and wore a becoming costume of shell pink georgette over satin seed pearls, and Malines lace, and black tullle hat with pink roses. Little Kathleen Diversi was train-bearer, and wore a pretty dress of white, georgette, Maltese lace, pink posies, tulle, mob cap. The bride's mother, Mrs Buckley wore navy blue cashmere-de-sole and georgette, beaded. The bride's bouquet was of frezias, snow-drops, maidenhair fern, with tulle and ribbon streamers of the bridegroom's battalion colors. The bridesmaid's bouquet was of pink sweet pans and asparagus fern. Both were the gifts or Miss Otton, of Numerella. Bridegroom's gift to the bride was a diamond dress ring, to the bridesmaid a gold and diamond brooch, and to the train-bearer gold armlet, while the bride's gift to the bridegroom was a pair of gold sleeve links. The ceremony was performed by the Very Rev. Dean Gunning, assisted by Rev Father Costelloe. Mr Jack Eurell, late A.I.F., was best man. During the signing of the register Mrs S. M. Rodd sang "Ora Pro Nobis," with Miss O'Neill as accompanist.
The reception and breakfast were held at the Family Hotel, which was crowded with relatives and friends, the large dining-room being too small to accommodate all. The Very Rev. Dean Gunning presided, and proposed the health of the young couple in felicitous terms, at the same time exhorting others to follow in their footsteps. The toast was received with musical honors, and the bridegroom responded. The toast of the bridesmaid was proposed by the bridegroom, and ably responded to by Mr Jack Eurell. Mr Ezzie Blomquist, late A.I.F., proposed the toast or the bride's parents, eulogizing their good qualities. Mr Buckley, in responding, referred to the happiness of his 25 years of married life. He had never had a cross word with his wife and family, and this was the first break. He had started off in married life without any money, but had made up his mind to succeed, as any young man could do in this country if he settled down to it. Some people regarded marriage as a joke, but it was a very serious matter and a man who married had to take a different view of life. Mr W. A. Smith proposed "The Diggers." It was a "Digger's wedding," for the bridegroom was one or the men who had fought for his King and country, and the best man was also a digger. They were all delighted that Mr Hanscombe had returned safely to claim a Bega girl as his bride. The toast was enthusiastically honored, and Mr Jack Rosenthall made a humorous response, giving the bridegroom some advice on married life, especially as to the growing of onions. Councillor W. J. Hanscombe proposed "The Visitors," Mr Todd, Numbulla Shire Engineer, and Mr. S. M. Rodd responding. The Rev. Father Costelloe, in an address sparkling with humor, proposed "The Press." Messrs. Jardine and Smith responding. Mr E. C. Bingemann proposed "The Very Rev. Chairman," and paid high tribute to the sterling qualities of the Dean, who in responding said that Mr Bingemann, by some extraordinary means, must have kissed the Blarney Stone. The Dean added that he was honored to proside at the gathering. He had known Mr and Mrs Buckley since they were toddlers, and he had known the Hanscombe family for close on 20 years. Mr Bingemann, in the course of his remarks, also referred to the grand qualities of the late Mr and Mrs Hanscombe, parents of the bridegroom. He considered the late Mrs Hanscombe one of the grandest women Australia ever produced, and he had found the late Mr Hanscombe one of the straightest men he ever met. The singing of Auld Lang Syne concluded a very happy gathering. The young couple then left by car for Sydney, from which they will proceed to Melbourne. The bride travelled in a costume of oyster grey chaimante and georgette panels, and cape of silk radium lace, royal blue posy, and hat to match. The happy couple left amidst showers or confetti and rounds of cheers. They were the recipients of an unusually large number ot valuable presents, including many cheques. Congratulatory wires were received from friends in distant parts, and several apologies, including one from Mr O. E. Hanscombe, who was unable to be present owing to the rain. The fine wedding cake was made by Misses Vera Buckley and E. Manning, sister and niece of the bride, and iced by Mr Greaves.

G'day Ian,
I haven't visited the Monaro Pioneer website for a long time. I was very impressed with all the improvements on the website. Well done. You do a fantastic job to keep this website up to date.
Do you know if there are any Mugridge descendants still living around the Cooma area?
I am still trying to find my "missing link". I want to know who Mary Ada Mugridge's (née Skipper) father was. I don't think it was William Skipper as she was born in 1876, a year before her mother Mary Jane/Ann Gorman married John Jones.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
Glenda Chapman
Hi Glenda,
Thank you, I suggest you put your question about Mary Ada on our Facebook page and see if anyone in our "community" can help you.
