Thomas Bollard
Family History Notes
Mary Philomena Huston (nee Bollard) was my grandmother on my fathers side. She was born in Cooma in 1905. She had a sister Ivy May Greentree (nee Bollard) born 1900 and
brother Leslie W.
Her Parents were Patrick Bollard ( born 1873 Bridle Creek/ Murammaratruga) and Nora (Norah) Lecount born 1880 at Billyrumbuck. Although I couldn’t find a birth certificate for her the details were listed on Mary’s birth certificate, and her marriage certificate. They were married at Cooma in 1899 with a signed permission from her father John Lecount.
Nora was only 19. Patrick was listed as a labourer and Nora a lady. They had three children as above.
Patrick’s Details:
Patrick’s parents were Thomas Bollard born in Ireland in 1799. His mother was Emma (Amelia) Whitehouse born in Sydney in 1823. She passed on in Sydney in 1912. They were married in Yass in 1849. Thomas & Emma were listed as residing at Hardwick. Thomas was listed as a shepherd. I could find no listing for his death, although he was deceased at Patrick & Nora’s wedding in 1899. The children I could find registration evidence for were: John:1854, Thomas: 1856 Cooma, Mary: 1859 Queanbeyan,
William: 1862 Queanbeyan,
Owen: 1866 Queanbeyan,
Joseph James: 1869 Queanbeyan,
Patrick: 1873 Cooma (Bridle Creek/ Murammaratruga) my great grandfather.
Nora’s Details:
Nora’s parents were John Lecount born in Sydney. It seems he is the first child of Samuel Thomas Lecount. Confirmation of that would be great. Her mother was Katherine Kerins who was born in Tipperay Ireland in 1841. Her parents were married at Wambrook on the 18th of December 1862. John was a labourer and Katherine was a house servant. Their children I could find records for births were:
James: 1863 Cooma,
John: 1865 Cooma,
Anne N: 1867 Cooma,
Michael: 1872 Cooma,
Johanna: 1874 Cooma,
Mary Ann: 1876 Cooma.
I can find no register for Nora’s (Norah’s) birth. On her marriage certificate to Patrick her father has give his consent as she was 19 in 1899. Her birthplace was listed as Billyrumbuck.
That is as far as I have gone so far. Just beginning really. If anyone has any further information to fill in the gaps I would appreciate it. We know very little of my grandmother’s childhood just that she was born in Cooma. She married my grandfather William John Huston of Belfast Ireland in 1934.
Hopes this adds to the amazing history you are collecting on the Manero.
Regards
Vicki Huston
