Henry Thomas Bray
Dalgety 1888
 

June 17 1919,”Monaro Mercury” records death of Henry Bray of Cooma in Young Hospital, of pneumonic flu. He was on a visit to his son Herbert at Young. Aged 57. he lived at Cooma for about 40 years. Was a bricklayer and stonemason, and building contractor. Married Christina McPhie of Paupong  (and) had a family of 5 sons and 4 daughters (one deceased). (He) was an alderman for a few years.he built a large number of the buildings in Cooma and district (including Caledonian Stores (Solomon’s), Masonic Temple , (first section), Municipal Chambers, old School of Arts Billiard Room, Body’s wool store, Mack’s Store, Cnr. Bombala and Sharp Streets), together with many others and many cottages. Buried at Young Cof E. (His son ,Stanley,in Military forces, died from same complaint in Sydney 4 days later, aged about 20.)
