COOMA MONARO EXPRESS 13 February 1920
Mr. Frederick Brown

As briefly reported in our last issue the death occurred on Sunday last of Mr. Frederick Brown, one of the oldest resident of these parts, at the great age of 84 years. Deceased, who was born in Sydney, married when he was 24, Mary Ann Weston. He came to Gegedzerick some 59 years ago and worked for Brooks Brothers, for a number of years.

Later he struck out on his own and purchased land at Gegedzerick, where he made a nice home and where he has resided ever since. His wife predeceased him 40 years ago.

A family of nine is left to mourn the loss of an affectionate father, besides 38 grandchildren and great grandchildren. The family consists of Messrs. William John, Frederick George, Arthur Charles, George, Herbert Henry, Albert Ernest, and Mesdames James McGufficke, (Inverell), Duncan McMillian, (Queanbeyan) and Frances Brown.

The remains were taken to the Gegedzerick Church, where Rev. J. S. West held a short service, after which the remains were laid to rest in Gegedzerick Cemetery, Rev. Mr. West reading the burial service.

Thus another old pioneer passes away, and one who held the respect and esteem of all classes of the community.
