Edward Dodds c1866, Cooma

EDWARD DODDS was born in 1837 in Sligo,Ireland, but was brought up and educated in Ayrshire, Scotland. At an early age he left school, and was engaged in farming for ten years. At the age of twenty-three he left for Australia, and landed in Victoria in 1861. From Melbourne he proceeded up country to Kyneton, where he again followed farming for about two years. He then came over to this colony, where, by energy and perseverance, he was enabled to enter business for himself, and is now a large property-holder at Cooma. In 1883 he was first returned as
an Alderman of the Municipality, and still holds his seat in the Municipal Chamber.
