Maurice Harnett
MAURICE HARNETT, a son of Laurence Harnett, of Rosebrook, was born at Ross, County of Limerick, Ireland, in the year 1831. He arrived on Manaro with his father in 1837. He was educated at the Sydney College, of which at that time Dr. Patterson was the principal. In 1848, consequent upon the death of his father, he assumed the management of the Rosebrook Run. He married a daughter of Mr. John Hensleigh, of Bendoc, and two sons-E.H., who died some number of years back, S.H., of Homeleigh Station, and a daughter, now the wife of Mr. C. A. Ferguson, of Glen Fergus Station, Cooma, were issue of the marriage. He was made a Justice of the Peace in 1857 and frequently sat on the Cooma Bench in the early clays. He died on 3rd January, 1891, having during his lifetime devoted himself to grazing pursuits and the building up of Rosebrook Station, whilst at the same time keenly interesting himself in all local movements.
