Obituary Mr. W. C. Locker

On Sunday , 27th December , 1931 , there passed away at his late residence at the age of 61 years , Mr. William Charles Locker , of Hill View , Adaminaby , following an illness of six months duration .

Deceased was the eldest son of the late Mr . and Mrs . Joseph Gilbert Locker , of Willow Grove , Adaminaby and was born at Bolaro . He lived about Adaminaby all his life .

He was twice married . His first wife was Alice , youngest daughter of the late Mr . and Mrs . George Barrett , of Inglewood , Adaminaby , and she died some 35 years ago , one daughter of this union still surviving , viz.: Mrs . W. Mansfield , of Moorebank , Adaminaby .

He later married Emmaline , second daughter of the late Mr . and Mrs . John Samuel Barrett , of Tumut . She survives him , with one son Herbert , and one daughter , Ruby , of Hill View , Adaminaby . he also leaves a brother , Clarence , of Fairview , Adaminaby , and a sister , Mrs . James Clugston , of Willow Grove , and four grandchildren . One sister predeceased him .

He was partner with the late Mr . T . D . Stewart in an auctioneering business which he has carried on , on his own account since the latter’s death .

Deceased took an active part in various public affairs and charitable  movements , and gained the very high esteem of a large circle of friends and acquaintances . For the past 28 years he was a member of the Committee and a guarantor of  Adaminaby  P. and A . Association . He was a member of the Masonic Craft and was a foundation member of the Sovereign (Adaminaby) Branch , G.U.O.O.F. For many years he held the position of Secretary of Adaminaby Presbyterian Church .

The funeral took place on Tuesday , 29th December  , to the Presbyterian section of Adaminaby General Cemetery  . Rev A . J . Barrett of Bombala , officiating in the presence of a large gathering at the graveside . members of the G .U .O .O .F  marched in the funeral procession and Messrs Bert Goodwin , Laurie Adams , Ron Clugston and Roy Brayshaw acted as pallbearers .Mr .J .F . Allen directed the funeral arrangements .
