Lt. COLONEL J. K. MACKENZIE
, one time of the 4th Queen's Own Regiment, was an old time Peninsular War veteran, who, joining his regiment at the age of sixteen, participated in the retreat from Corunna, at which Sir John Moore was killed. His daughter Annie married Arthur Blomfield, of Coolamatong, and afterwards of Marranumbla Station. Another daughter, Janet, married Stewart Ryrie, of Jindabyne, and in 1846 a child of this union was brought from Maneroo to be baptized. Col. Mackenzie at one time owned Summer Hill Run, near Nimmitabel. This he sold to Daniel Driscoll. He was also the holder Of Dangelong Run, which was managed by his son, Alexander. He later acquired Nerriga, near Braidwood.Transcribed by Pattrick Mould in 2003, from the book "Back to Cooma' Celebrations" page 82
