William Matthew Norris

Genealogy


WILLIAM MATTHEW NORRIS came from Camden with teams in 1850, and resided on Manaro till his death in 1913 at the age of 78. For a time he followed the occupation of a pit sawyer and assisted to cut the timber for Cooma Hospital and many local buildings. From time to time he resided in different parts of -the district, from Kiandra to Bombala, and selected land in various directions. A son, Mr. J. A. Norris, who conducts a local motor agency, is a well-known citizen, being connected with many public movements and institutions.

Mrs. I.H. Norris
The Cooma Express 3rd May 1935

The death took place at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital on Anzac Day Thursday 25th ult; of Mary Ann, wife of Mr. I.H. Norris, of Leichhardt, at the age of 58 years, she had been in ill health for some time past.

Deceased was the second daughter of the late Mr & Mrs Joseph Snowden, of Cooma.

She is survived by her husband, three sons, Reginald, Harry, and Robert, daughters Hilary, Gladys, Phyllis and Hazel, three brothers Thomas, (Bobundara), William (Woodstock, Cooma), and John (Cooma), and one sister Mrs. J. McDonald (Cooma) two brothers, Joseph and Robert and a daughter Edith, predeceased Mrs. Norris.

The interment took place on Saturday afternoon, 27 April in the R.C. Section of Rookwood General Cemetery.

Mary Ann’s husband Isaac Henry Day Norris, died 21 Aug 1945 and is buried Rookwood
