William Reid
James Reid --- son of William Reid and Sarah Reid born 2 April 1862 , Jeff’s Creek, Monaro.Died 30 March 1919, Sydney.
March 31 1919—“Monaro
Mercury” records death of James Reid of Adaminaby. He died at a private
hospital in Summerhill (Sydney). Dr. Cormack and Dr. Cassidy (late of
Adaminaby attended. He was born at Berridale in 1863 (sic),being the youngest
son of the late Mr. and Mrs . W . Reid of Bush Hall. He hurt himself when
fencing at the age of 20, and never fully recovered. He sold Bush Hall and
took up property in Sydney, Yass, Adaminaby, and Berridale, He never married.
He leaves 2 brothers, W. and T. of Paupong, and sisters Mrs. A. Jamieson, Mrs.
P. Norton, Mrs. W. Southern (sic), all of Berridale. He was an expert dingo
trapper and did good service on the Snowy Mountains by their destruction. Mrs.
Tebay of Summerhill is a neice.
