Sir Granville De Laune Ryrie
War Hero and Politician
SIR GRANVILLE DE LAUNE RYRIE is the second son of late Hon. Alexander Ryrie, M.L.C. He served with distinction in the Boer War and again in the Great War. His services have been rewarded with promotion to the rank of Major General, and he has had many honors conferred upon him. He was awarded the K.C.M.G., C.M.G., C.B., V.D. and many other orders. He was three times wounded and seven times mentioned in despatches for conspicuous gallantry in the field. Essaying politics, he was returned as member for
Queanbeyan in the State Parliament. Later he sought Federal Honors and was returned as representative for Warringah, which constituency he still represents. He has twenty years' political service to his credit, and held Ministerial rank for three years. He married a daughter of the late judge McFarland, and still lives at the old home at Micalago.
