Subject: James Skipper on Monaro Pioneers website
Bedfordshire & Luton Archives Service has just been contacted by one of the descendants of James Skipper who was convicted in Bedford, England in 1839 and transported. By coincidence I had just featured the case of James Skipper on our website pages for our Paths to Crime Cataloguing project and we were able to supply further information to the descendant who in return gave us information about what happened to James once he got to Australia and suggested that we might like to link to the Monaro Pioneers website. We would like to do this however, I see that you say that James was convicted in Bedford, Ireland, which is incorrect, would it be possible to update this information to say Bedford, England please?
I don’t know whether there is any way you could link to our web sites but if so may I request that you link to the page that mentions James Skipper and also to our gaol database, which not only includes James and his accomplice but also many other people who spent time in Bedford gaol before being sent off to Australia.
