Subject: Bridge Inquiry

Recent low levels of Lake Eucumbene have resulted in the re-emergance of the Six Mile Bridge over the Eucumbene river in the vicinity of Anglers Reach. The bridge was flooded by the rising waters in 1956 and is in good condition, considering the 51 years in the water.

I am trying to collect what history remains in knowledge and memories of surviving members of the local community, in particular, when the bridge was built, by whom.

I have tried Snowy River shire without success, even though there should be records from their predecessor, Dalgety Shire. Some people believe Six  Mile and Providence bridge at West Denison were both erected.after the Goldrush and as part of a new road construction between Adaminaby and Kiandra.

Can you help at all ? Many thanks, George Shelton.
