Obituary Mrs. Herbert Weston (Louisa Annie)
Cooma Monaro Express 16 July 1909 (Jindabyne, from an exchange)
Quite a gloom was cast over this part of the district by the death of Mrs Herbert Weston, which occurred in Dalgety on Thursday 24th June. Deceased was only 28 years of age, and leaves a loving husband and five children, the eldest being 9 years of age, to morn their loss. Mrs. Weston was the eldest daughter of Mr. J. McGufficke of Moonbah. The remains were interred in the Gegedzerick cemetery, and were followed by 500 persons to the graveside.
Monaro Mercury 24th June 1909
Last Thursday, when Mrs. Herbert Weston, daughter of Mr. John McGufficke, of Moonbah, died at 5.30 pm after giving birth to a daughter, at noon on the same day.
Dr. Kirkwood was called but arrived half an hour after death had occurred. He pronounced death do be due to heart failure. Much sympathy is expressed with the husband, who is left with four small children, the eldest being 9 years, beside the little baby. The little one is being taken in charge of by Mrs. Charles Coleman, which kindly lady has already reared one child under similar circumstances, namely the child of Mr. John Liddell of Moonbah, whose mother died five days after she was born. Mrs Weston was buried at Gegedzerick on Sunday and her funeral was largely attended, showing the sorrow of the neighbourhood for the occurrence. Mr. Thornton of Cooma, conducted the funeral.
